Buying Guide
Tips
- Be realistic when determining what’s affordable to spend on your new house or flat. Whether you are interested in purchasing an older property or a new build, in addition to the purchase price, solicitors fees, stamp duty etc. it is important to allocate a proportion of your budget to furnishing your new home as well as carrying out maintenance work on an older property which could extend to re-wiring; re-roofing; replacement windows etc.
- If your budget allows it, it is worth considering purchasing a property in a good catchment area for schools regardless of whether you have children or not, as you will be in a better position to sell your property on, in the future.
- Don’t forget that a property purchase incurs additional costs that you might not be accustomed to if you have been living with your parents. You will therefore need to budget for: utility bills; council tax; servicing of the boiler; internal/external repairs etc.
